WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Whitman College secured a 2-0 victory over Willamette University on Sunday at Whitman Athletic Fields. Whitman broke a scoreless first half with two goals in the second half, capitalizing on their efficient shooting with both shots on goal resulting in scores. The Bearcats' attempts were thwarted by Whitman's goalkeeper, who recorded eight saves to maintain a clean sheet.
Mikkel Jensen faced seven shots and allowed two goals in 90 minutes as the Bearcats' goalkeeper. Ky Iliev was active on offense with two shots, both on target. Brenden Pineda matched Iliev's effort, also registering two shots on goal. Drew Alexander contributed defensively while also managing to get two shots on goal.
The Bearcats hold a record of 1-4-3 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play. The Blues remain undefeated at 3-0-3 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.
Looking ahead, the Bearcats will host Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, Sept. 27, with kickoff set for 2:45 p.m. in Salem, OR.
