TACOMA, Wash. — Willamette faced Pacific Lutheran on Friday, with standout performances from Ka'olapa Masuko, who claimed victories in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events. Kevin Olmedo also excelled, securing first place in the 50-yard freestyle. Despite these strong performances, Pacific Lutheran emerged victorious with a final score of 123-102.
Willamette's men showcased strong performances in their meet against PLU, highlighted by individual victories and consistent top-three finishes. Masuko stood out with wins in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 59.83, and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:16.40. Jan Beck secured first in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:00.01. Olmedo made a significant impact, capturing first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.05 and placing second in the 100-yard freestyle at 50.71.
Nicholas Moore contributed with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:54.99, and later anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a third-place finish. Ethan Barker delivered a notable performance in the 200-yard backstroke, securing second place with a time of 2:07.81. The meet saw the Bearcats consistently placing within the top three in various events, demonstrating depth and competitive edge across individual and relay races.
